Injury Marker

Just a quick post to mark yet another injury. On the descent down Trabuco for the Toad Festival I had a situation. It wasn't a crash. It wasn't at speed and it wasn't crazy. It was embarrassing though because it was on the last technical obstacle of the singletrack and I've never walked or crashed there before.

I was happy I had cleared everything up to that point (except for walking a small section near Horsethief) and then I broke too hard and had an awkward exit off the bike. I smashed my left knee on something (bike or rocks) and drew a tiny bit of blood.

Now that a few days have passed the knee has become stiff and sore. I'm sure it won't hurt that much on the bike, but it does hurt a little to walk and it definitely hurts to get in and out of chairs and to walk up stairs. Whatever. It'll be ok in a few days.

Smash Wrist

Quick update.

Finally did Smashface about a week ago. It was pretty fun. There were some tough downhill sections and some hike-a-bike, but nothing overwhelming. It was just nice to do something new and to ride a trail most people haven't even heard of.

Set a personal best of 2:08 for the Whiting-Old Camp loop. I remember doing the same loop about two years ago and I was really, really happy to have done it in under 3 hours. I'm glad that the work on the bike is paying off. A 40 minute improvement in two years makes me content ... for now.

Last note is that my left wrist has been hurting off and on again. I went over the bars hard on San Juan a few months ago and I thought the wrist was completely healed, but it has been acting up as of late. Probably should have gone to the doctor or taken some time off the bike to let it heal properly. Oh well!
